Aloha Budapest (or not)!
Our next stop was supposed to be Budapest. But alas, it is not to be.
Do you know that “climate change” thing? Well, it turns out we should really pay attention because in Europe, as it is everywhere, it is For Real. We will not be traveling to Budapest because the Danube River cruise we were to start in Budapest has been cancelled. Why, you ask? Well, the river levels are dangerously low making it not possible for a small ship to navigate the rivers. All European river cruises have been cancelled. In some places, the river is so dried up that people walk across the riverbeds to get from one side to the other. Very sad.
Temps in Europe are ridiculously high; as much as 15 to 20 degrees higher than normal. In Prague for instance, it was 97F – 99F while has we were there. It is normally around 75F in Prague this time of year. Not just a one-off either. It has been like this for 2 weeks or more. Same in Italy, France, London, and so on.
So, we are headed to Munich, where the temperatures are a cool 95+F this week. It is scorching hot in Munich but we are only there a few days before heading back to the USA.
